John Henson is the Assistant Head Football Coach and Offensive Line Coach at William Blount. He also oversees the special teams unit for the Govs.
Coach Henson and his family moved to Blount County in 2021. Henson is originally from northern California. He was the Head Football Coach at Chowchilla HS from 2006 to 2010. Henson’s impressive tenure at Chowchilla was highlighted by a 12-1 season in 2008, where he led the team to a Division IV Central Section title.
Coach Henson was in charge of the Governors wrestling program in 2023. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach for both wrestling and football.
Henson is a math and business teacher at WBHS. He is a 1997 graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and he also earned a master’s degree from Biola University in 2015. Him and his wife, Wendy, have 4 children: Tyler, Ethan, Emma, and Caleb. Caleb plays linebacker for the Govs.
